Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 24, 2026 · Kinolit Inc.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Kinolit Inc. (“Kinolit,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects when you use our website (the “Site”), why we collect it, and what rights you have over it.

Because we operate from within the European Union, this policy is written to meet the requirements of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and those protections apply to everyone who uses the Site, wherever you live.

We are the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us about anything in this policy at info@kinolit.com. We do not maintain a physical office; email is the way to contact us.

1. What we collect

We try to collect as little as possible.
Your email address. If you choose to join our mailing list, we collect the email address you enter, along with the date you signed up. That's it — we don't ask for your name or anything else.
Basic technical and usage data. Like most websites, our hosting and infrastructure automatically process limited technical information needed to serve the Site to you — for example, your device's IP address and basic request information. We may also use Vercel Analytics, a privacy-friendly analytics tool that measures aggregate, anonymized traffic (such as page views and general visitor counts) without using cookies and without tracking you across other websites or building a profile of you.
We do not use advertising cookies, sell your data, or share it with advertisers.

2. Why we use it, and our legal basis

Under the GDPR we must have a lawful basis for using your information. Ours are:
  • Your email address — used solely to send you occasional updates about Kinolit. Our legal basis is your consent, which you give by entering your email and which you can withdraw at any time (see Section 5).
  • Technical and analytics data — used to operate, secure, and improve the Site. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the Site running, safe, and useful. Because our analytics are anonymized and cookieless, this involves minimal intrusion into your privacy.

3. Who has access to it

Your information is handled by Kinolit and by the service providers that make the Site work — principally our hosting and infrastructure providers (including Vercel, which hosts the Site, and our own backend systems). These providers process data only to provide their services to us, under agreements that require them to protect it.
Some of these providers, and Kinolit itself as a US-incorporated company, may process data in the United States. Where personal data is transferred outside the EU, we rely on appropriate safeguards recognized under the GDPR (such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or an applicable adequacy decision).
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our legal rights.

4. How long we keep it

We keep your email address for as long as you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we remove your address from our active mailing list and delete it within a reasonable period, except where we must retain limited records to comply with our legal obligations. Anonymized analytics data is retained only in aggregate and cannot be tied back to you.

5. Your rights

You have the right to:
  • withdraw consent at any time — every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also write to info@kinolit.com;
  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • correct inaccurate data;
  • erase your data (“right to be forgotten”);
  • restrict or object to our processing;
  • port your data to another service; and
  • lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. If you are in the EU, this is the supervisory authority where you live; for us, the relevant authority is the Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit (Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information).
To exercise any of these rights, email info@kinolit.com. We will respond within the time the law requires (generally one month).

6. Children

The Site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. You must be at least 16 to join our mailing list. (Note: our “Kids” content filter refers to the suitability of the Editions, not to child users — we do not create accounts for or knowingly collect data from children.) If you believe a child has given us their information, contact info@kinolit.com and we will delete it.

7. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the new version here and update the effective date above. If we make a significant change affecting how we use your email, we will tell subscribers by email.

9. Contact

Any question or request about your privacy can be sent to info@kinolit.com.
